Welcome to the CAVMS Youth Jazz Orchestra. CYJO provides an opportunity for students from the Cardiff area to learn the skills of playing Jazz and Big Band music. CYJO’s repertoire includes standards from the likes of Duke Ellington, Glen Miller and Count Basie, as well as modern compositions and arrangements.
About Us
Formed in September 2003, CYJO have played at venues and festivals across South Wales. In March 2007 the were invited to represent the best of Welsh Youth Music as part of the Festival of Welsh Male Choirs at the Royal Albert Hall, and they regularly take part in the Music For Youth Regional festival; on many occasions being invited to the National Festival in Birmingham. In both 2016 and 2018 they made it through to the finals of S4C’s Band Ieuenctid Cymru competition.
CYJO are run as a partnership ensemble with CF Music Education as part of the National Plan for Music in Wales
