CAVMS YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA – SOUTH WALES BIG BAND SOCIETY

On Tuesday 24 February the CAVMS Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO) were joined by the Gwent Youth Big Band for a fantastic celebration of youth music making. Both bands entertained a packed crowd with a great selection of Big Band classics and contemporary charts.
In particular, the CYJO played 4 charts which were composed as part of Jazz North’s Youth Jazz Orchestra Project; Cascara by Flo Taylor, Glow by Nikki Iles, The Seven Foot Warrior and the Accidental Unicorn by Laura Cole and Seize the Day by Phil Meadows. All of the young musicians tackled some challenging repertoire with great enthusiasm and there was some fantastic improvising throughout the band.
