On January 30th CAVMS visited the annual Music and Drama Education Expo at the design centre in Islington. Now in its 16th year, the Expo is a fantastic opportunity to keep up to date with the latest developments in music education, from exam boards, publishers, instrument suppliers and national organisations.
Day one started with an inspiring session from Nikki Yeoh entitled “7 Steps to Improvisation Heaven” featuring students from Islington Music Service and the music of Fred Wesley! Further highlights included talks on Arts Education Policy and AI, as well as the launch of the new MU campaign “Arts and Minds”.
Day two highlights included sessions on “Harnessing the Power of Psychology to Tune in to your Instrumental Students” and “Diversity in Repertoire” and ended with an inspirational session from Paul Harris on “Why Music Education Matters” to send us all away on a positive note.
